Like Jo, I long to do something splendidly heroic. Sometimes, I feel like I’m on simmer. My mom brain is too foggy, my nights too short, and my days dedicated to the family I’ve long prayed for.

I have little time or energy for dawning armor and slaying dragons. (And oh, the amount of dragons there are these days).

For me obeying 1 Thessalonians 4:11 is the brave thing:

“And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;”

Endeavoring to make sure my heart, home, wifehood and mothering are full of holy, peaceable fruit is a priority I am learning to attend to.

Here’s to loving, serving, and giving in meekness, kindness, and holiness. 💛

💛🧺🌾 Uriah just feel asleep in a large pile of warm, freshly dried laundry.

Which has me remembering the sweet, slow moments of my childhood.

My mom was so good at letting us children grow slowly.

Once, I was sent to shake out bathroom rugs. I shook the rugs but I also paused to enjoy the beauty and warmth of the Alaskan summer sunshine. A butterfly caught my attention and, before I knew it, I had fallen asleep in a warm ray of sun.

Of course, mom taught us how to work and be busy. But that day she listened to me describe my midsummer nap and enjoyed that moment with me.

I want to be that kind of mama — the one who let’s others enjoy those little moments; a lover of the slow, peaceful, and natural.

So Uriah napping in the warm laundry feels like a small bit of my own childhood. 💛
